Skyhook Games’ Christmas Party 2024!

The Skyhook Games team recently attended our annual Christmas Party! Read on to find out what went down!

Part I – The Round Table Meeting

Earlier this year, we committed to making this a regular activity. With members of the team travelling to Liverpool for the Christmas festivities, we thought this would be a great time to hold the next one! We discussed a variety of topics such as plans for 2025 & the status of on-going projects. Those who attended the first Develop:North conference talked about their learnings from the presentations, and how we could apply them to our work going forward. We can’t say anymore about these projects yet. However, we’re very excited about them so keep an eye out for updates on them in 2025…

Part II – Lunch & Secret Santa!

The next phase consisted of a buffet lunch, with lots of delicious items contributed by individual members of the team. There were plenty of tasty sweet & savoury items to devour! There was so much on offer, those of us in the office are still tackling the leftovers (not that we’re complaining!). We then continued what in the last couple of years has become something of a Skyhook tradition – Secret Santa! This year, nobody gifted a Nerf gun… we decided not to go through that palaver again. Instead, the gifts were much more innocent. LEGO, sweet treats, books etc. I still don’t know who got me, so thank you! Whoever you are…

Part III – Escape Live – Liverpool

After a walk through a not so Christmassy, British December afternoon, we arrived at the main event of the day. Escape Live in Liverpool City Centre! We enjoyed a welcome drink before being split into our teams for the escape rooms. Each squad tackled a uniquely themed room; Sherlock Holmes, Jack The Ripper, Prison Break & Peaky Blinders. The challenge was simple – complete the room in the shortest time possible. Each team was given a full hour, 3 teams made it out in time, one didn’t… The Peaky Blinders team came out on top, Jack The Ripper didn’t escape within the hour. However, with very little evidence collected, they still managed to work out who the killer was. Impressive, but still lost!

Take a look at some of the photos below!

Part IV – To The End

The gloating and excuse making was brought to a halt by more food. This works every time! We all spent the next few hours chatting amongst ourselves, playing a few games of “Wrong Answers Only” (which got sort of competitive the further along we got). Some answers were appealed as the scores were very close! Once we reached leaving time, the usual suspects continued on into the early hours of Saturday morning… but that’s another story.

As we’re a group which is used to doing most of the collaborating over the internet, we don’t get to come together as much as we would like so these events are always so enjoyable! Thanks to all the members of the team who made the journey to Liverpool to be with us, we’ll see you all again soon. A further thank you to the wonderful staff at Escape Live for your great hospitality!

We’re looking forward to seeing all the positives 2025 has in store not just for Skyhook, but Gamechangers too! The initiative’s one year report is now publicly available, click here for more info.
