Natalie’s work experience at skyhook games!

Last week, Belvedere Academy student, Natalie completed a work experience placement with us! At the end of her time with us, we asked her how she enjoyed her time here!

How have you found your time at Skyhook?

It’s been very fun and useful! I’m really glad I chose to do my work experience here as it’s confirmed what I want to do in the future! It’s also given me insight as to what it’s like to work in an office.

How has your time here helped you?

I’ve learnt a lot about each aspect of game development, such as 3D Art, QA & audio. I have also developed new interests and gained lots of useful information. Even though I only spent 2 days with Skyhook, I feel as though I have now received valuable experience. For future work experience, I’d like to come back here or to another studio, thanks to Skyhook!

Was there any aspect you particularly enjoyed?

Learning about the composing element was very interesting as I want to move in that direction when I’m older. I really enjoyed learning about that!

How would you summarise your placement?

I was asked to come up with 10 ideas for a new game and draw 2 of them as they would appear in-engine. This was really fun as I got to research similar styles and use my imagination! I also talked with QA and a member of the Art team, they helped broaden my understanding of video game development. I got to see how 3D Art is created and how it can be used to draw 2D too! The best part was talking to an audio professional and listening to him explain how it is used in video games!
