lms – location easter egg

interested to know the story of the names of locations in lawn mowing simulator? if so, you’re in luck! here, we’re about to spill the beans…

westwell castle

You’ll see as we go on, the vast amount of locations within the base game of LMS were named after the team that worked on particular aspects of development. In this case, our then Junior Game Designer (now Game Designer), Joe Westwell was given the task of designing all the castle locations. Therefore, it was only fitting to name this grand construction after its architect!

the jefferson garden (hilltop house)

The garden in Hilltop House is named after the Lead Environment Artist at the time, Nick Jefferson-Tame. The idea was to make up some funny artists that created the sculptures in the location. In fact, there is even a plaque with a made-up artist bio on the statue!

the davies garden

Sticking with the theme of gardens; another was named after Mike Davies, the Producer on the game. Much like The Jefferson Garden, we also made a funny plaque to explain the inspiration behind the sculpture in this location!

ripley park

This is quite a cool one! The park is named after the iconic heroine of the Alien franchise, Ellen Ripley. Our Lead Designer is a massive Aliens fan (as you can probably tell) and is always trying to work an Easter Egg or reference into the games he works on!

dutchman’s lookout (ripley park)

This location within Ripley Park takes it’s name from the Grandfather of our Lead Designer. He would’ve absolutely loved to sit in Ripley Park and watch the world go by.

crossley riding school

This location was named after a very dear member of our Lead Designer’s family that passed away. She was an incredible person who loved riding horses in her youth. We felt this was a lovely tribute to her.

coville street

This location was created during the pandemic. At the time, one of Lawn Mowing Sim’s coders was taking care of his mother, so we decided to name the street after her!

weavers square

This park was named after the games UI artist Rich Weaver.

rowley manor

The Manor scene was created by the artist – Martin Rowley, he did such a great job creating this location I’m sure you’ll agree! As we thought so too, we decided to name it after him!

We hope you enjoyed finding out more about what inspired the names of the locations in LMS! If you think they look nice here, they look even better in game! If you’d like to experience them in all their glory,  Lawn Mowing Simulator is available now on SteamXbox One, Series S|XPlayStation 4 and 5, as well as Epic Games Store.
