ancient britain, the fist dlc released for lawn mowing simulator. but where did the ideas for this project come from? well, let’s find out!

The Ancient Britain DLC was built from the idea, “Wouldn’t it be cool to mow around Stonehenge!”

From that we decided to make up our own monuments around the area! We then had each one subtle reference to the others in order to make them all linked as part of an ancient landscape.

There are 4 areas in Ancient Britain which contain signposts that lead you to the other locations around the map! These are:

  • The Field Painting
  • The Megalith
  • The Ancient Aurochs Pub
  • The Stone Circles

Fun Fact! The Megalith has a valuable collectible that resembles a sword imbedded in a stone, referencing the Arthurian legend.

what’s an aurochs?

The Field Painting depicts an ancient and extinct bovine animal called an “Aurochs”.

The Pub is named after the Auroch’s Field Painting found in the same DLC pack.

The Pub has a nearby road sign with comedic town names! Quite a long way to go for a ham and cheese toastie!

condiment names

The Ancient Aurochs Pub has a collection of condiments that feature names of several developers that worked on the DLC!

pamphlet

The Pub also features pamphlets that reference more of the locations found in the DLC, further linking their connection to one another. There is even a roadside photo recreation of the Aurochs Painting!

  • A Seat at the Round Table – A reference to King Arthur’s round table from the Arthurian legend.
  • Home Game – Knights are soldiers from ancient times and completing an ancient contract on a Knight mower is a combination that correlates the two themes.
  • Excalibur? – This is a reference to the sword: Excalibur from the Arthurian legend.
  • The Wandering Wizard – A reference to Gandalf from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ novels
