jared’s work experience at skyhook!
this week we welcomed jared to the skyhook games studio! now that his time with us has come to a close, let’s find out how he enjoyed his time here!
How have you found your week at Skyhook?
My week at Skyhook gave me a look into how a successful company operates. It has given me confidence in my understanding of the industry and everyone’s roles within the environment. Working with industry professionals has been fascinating as I’ve been able to see the level of care and dedication that goes into creating models, assets and environments.
How has your time here helped you?
My time at Skyhook has pushed me to learn more about 3D modelling and game art. This has allowed me to be more adaptable to 3D software and has given me the tools to solve more challenging problems. For example, my ability in unwrapping models went from not knowing anything to now being able to fully unwrap a model neatly. In addition, my time at Skyhook has given me clarity as to what the day-to-day experience is like, as well as how each person’s role joins together within a professional environment.
Was there any aspect you particularly enjoyed?
The most fun I had, was having my work reviewed by Jon (Art Director). Seeing all the the areas I could improve granted me a clearer view on what makes a model look good and stand out. I also had a lot of fun working with Liam and Dan (Artists), who showed me the intricacies of their work. In addition, shadowing Lewis and talking to him about Tech Art was incredibly interesting. Seeing how Houdini works and how it’s practically applied within games was a cool thing to look at.
Summary of your time here.
My time here working with people who are incredibly passionate and dedicated to their work, has been a great experience. I have had a week to remember! One that has been fundamental for my growth as an individual working within the gaming industry.
