tsw 4: midland main line – May 2024 patch notes
A new update is coming to Midland Main Line as Cargo Line Vol. 2 approaches!
Coming in this new patch, we have multiple fixes/improvements for the Class 158, HST and Midland Main Line route. Notable additions include:
- Fully upgraded scenery for Mountsorrel Railhead to support Cargo Line Vol.2 Aggregates.
- Complete overhaul of the timetable, adding train preparation time and correct station times for the 2018 time period.
- Improved setup of signal ‘Approach Control’ at various junctions to better represent the prototype.
- Further extensive improvements to trackside vegetation across the route.
- Added additional services to the timetable for owners of Southeastern High Speed and Flying Scotsman DLC.

Class 158 DMU:
- Reduced time taken by Guard – Door Closing feature to reduce impact on ability to keep to timetable
- Fixed PIS not showing correct final destination
- Fixed interior lights switching on/off depending on how close the external camera is
- Aligned performance ability of AI 158 to match that of player expectation which was throwing off calculation of the timetable
- Improved visuals for console players
- Increased the brightness of the DRA switch when active so that its more obvious it is in play
- Removed pixelated Ambient Occlusion effects
- Stopped weather effects from occurring on the cab dials
High Speed Train:
- Corrected ride height of power car to resolve gaps in bogie suspension
- Improved headlight spread and colour
- Added dial needles to gauge illumination so they can be seen in the dark
- Improved cab light and fixed missing illumination of bulb
- Improved visuals for console players
- Removed rogue polygon from power car rear wheelset
Route Fixes/Improvements:
- Added two Flying Scotsman services 1Z37 and 1Z38
- Implemented station stop timings rounded to the nearest minute on all passenger services
- Added 20 seconds of service preparation time for player to get the train ready before commencing
- All non-passenger services feature 1 minute of setup time prior to start
- Moved all Class 158 services starting at the end of Derby platform 4 to starting in the middle of the platform
- Moved all Lincoln bound services stopping at Nottingham platform 4 to platform 3A before the AI takes over and departs to portal
- Moved several inbound AI trains from Lincoln arriving in to platform 3 at Nottingham to now arriving into platform 4
- Recast all static stock placement across the route. Made use of Blackpool stock. Made use of Cargo Line Aggregate stock. Made use of Southeastern High Speed JNAs instead of East Coastway ones
- Removed requirement to lock doors on terminating services across Midland Main Line gameplay
- Replaced use of static JNA wagons from East Coastway DLC with Cargo Line Aggregate HOA hoppers accurate for Mountsorrel Railhead
- Added a 2Car stop sign halfway along East Midlands Parkway platform 3. This removes requirement for 2car 158s to stop all the way down the end of the platform
- Added correct route indicators to junction signals east of Beeston and corrected Approach Control functionality
- Added correct route indicators to junction signals north of Humberstone Loops and corrected Approach Control functionality
- Added correct route indicators to junction signals north of Loughborough and corrected Approach Control functionality
- Added correct route indicators to junction signals north of Sileby and corrected Approach Control functionality
- Added correct route indicators to junction signals north of Syston and corrected Approach Control functionality
- Change speed limit of junctions from Fast to Slow lines north of Trent River bridge from 40 to 25 mph as per the prototype and trackside signage
- Changed signal heads at the north and south exits of Mountsorrel yard to match intended time period (2018)
- Corrected speed limit through Syston station from 65Mph to 50Mph as per prototype and trackside signage
- Fixed AWS magnet warning of 70Mph limit when approaching Long Eaton from the west
- Fixed signals showing aspects in the wrong place on the Down Main between Barrow-Upon-Soar and Loughborough
- Revised formation designer settings across all content
- Updated 3 aspect signal bulb colours to better represent the prototype
- Updated the visual appearance of signals at the southern end of East Midlands Parkway station to better represent the prototype
- Added interactive Portacabin to Etches Patch depot
- Added interactive Portacabin to Mountsorrel Railhead
- Added working interactive loader at Mountsorrel Railhead
- Expanded the station directory list to include more virtual destinations for use in timetable services
- Fixed instances of vegetation overlapping the track
- Flattened terrain from overlapping track just east of Beeston station
- Grounded floating information signs placed in stations
- Improved trackside visuals between Loughborough and East Midlands Parkway
- Made improvements to trackside vegetation across the entire route
- Removed high rise buildings from Long Eaton area
- Removed Oyster Card Machine from Nottingham Station
- Removed poor scenery around Toton yard area
- Removed Ratcliffe cooling tower smoke effects due to performance concerns
- Removed various out of bounds areas from being displayed on the 2D Map
- Removed water texture from top of Ratcliffe cooling towers making them look like they are full of water
